Alberta Driving Test App Now Available in Korean, Portuguese, and Tagalog

The Alberta Driving Test app now supports Korean, Portuguese, and Tagalog, making it easier for newcomers to study for the Class 7 knowledge test in their first language.

Preparing for the Alberta Class 7 knowledge test is already a challenge. Doing it in a second language makes it harder than it needs to be. That is why we added Korean, Portuguese, and Tagalog to the Alberta Driving Test app — so more learners can study in the language they think and reason in best.

Why language matters when studying for a driving test

The Alberta knowledge test covers road signs, traffic laws, right-of-way rules, and safe driving practices. Many of these concepts require careful reading and precise understanding. When a question is phrased in your first language, you can focus entirely on the driving content. When it is not, part of your attention is always spent on translation — which slows you down and increases the chance of misreading a question.

Studying in your native language helps you build real understanding, not just pattern recognition. That understanding is what carries you through the actual test.

What languages the app now supports

The app is currently available in the following languages:

  • Korean (한국어)
  • Portuguese (Português)
  • Tagalog
  • English

Additional languages may be added based on community need. If you would like to see a language added, let us know through the app's feedback option.

Who this is for

Alberta has one of the most culturally diverse populations in Canada. Many newcomers arrive from South Korea, the Philippines, Brazil, and Portugal each year. For these communities, having access to a study tool in a familiar language removes a significant barrier on the path to getting a driver's licence.

The Class 7 licence is often one of the first practical steps toward independence in a new province. Being able to study in Korean, Portuguese, or Tagalog makes that step more accessible.

How the language setting works

When you open the app for the first time, you can select your preferred language from the settings. All practice questions, answer choices, and explanations will be displayed in that language. You can switch languages at any time from the app settings, so you can also compare how a question reads in English alongside your native language if you find that helpful.

What the app covers

Regardless of which language you study in, the content is the same: practice questions drawn from the official Alberta Driver's Guide, organized by chapter and topic. The app includes:

  • chapter-by-chapter practice questions covering all sections of the guide
  • flashcards for road signs and key rules
  • mock exams that simulate the format and timing of the actual Class 7 test
  • progress tracking so you can identify which topics need more review
