Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
Welcome to PawFive ("we," "our," or "us"), operated by Honeymilk Studio. PawFive is a social app for dog owners to discover dog-friendly places and organize playdates. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our mobile application (the "App"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Account Information
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider to create and identify your account. You can also add profile details such as a display name and profile photo.
Each account is also given a short friend code. You can share it as a QR code or an invite link so someone can find and add you without exchanging phone numbers. Anyone you give the code to can look up your profile in the App.
2.2 Dog Profiles
Information you provide about your dogs, such as their name, breed, birthday, and photos. This information is visible to other users as part of the social features of the App.
2.3 Location Data
We use your location for:
- Showing nearby dog parks, playdates, and pet-friendly places, and biasing place search toward your area
- Live location sharing during playdates: if you turn on the live-sharing toggle for a playdate, your real-time position is shared with that playdate's participants — including in the background while you travel to the meeting spot. Live sharing is off by default, visible only to playdate participants, and you can turn it off at any time.
We do not store your location. Live positions are relayed directly to the other participants while sharing is on and are not written to our database, so there is no location history on your account. Turning sharing off stops the relay immediately.
2.4 Social Content and Activity
Content you create in the App, such as playdates you organize or join, friends you connect with, comments, reviews of places, places you suggest, and saved favourite places. We also keep activity records that drive in-app features — for example your social level and the number of Super PawFives you have sent, which other users can see on your profile.
If you block another user or submit a report about one, we record that block or report, including the reason you selected and the account it concerns.
2.5 Photos
Photos you choose to upload (for example, profile, dog, or place photos) from your camera or photo library. We only access photos you explicitly select.
Uploaded photos are stored with our hosting provider and served over public web addresses, so they load quickly in the App. This means anyone who has the direct link to a photo can view it, even if they do not use PawFive. Please keep that in mind when choosing what to upload.
2.6 Camera and QR Codes
The App can open your camera so you can scan another user's PawFive QR code and add them as a friend. The camera is used only while the scanner is open, we read only the friend code in the QR code, and we do not record, store, or upload the camera feed or any images from it.
2.7 Device and Notification Data
A push notification token for your device so we can send you notifications (for example, playdate invitations and updates), along with your notification preferences. Some preferences are stored locally on your device.
2.8 Purchase Information
PawFive does not sell subscriptions. Some features use Super PawFive, a one-time in-app purchase that adds credits to your account. Purchases are processed by the App Store or Google Play, which handle your payment details — we never see them. Through our purchase provider we receive confirmation of the purchase (such as the store transaction identifier and product) so we can verify it and credit your balance, and we keep a record of your balance and how it is spent.
2.9 Analytics and Diagnostics
We use product analytics to understand how the App is used — for example how many people finish onboarding, create a playdate, or open the Super PawFive screen. These events are tied to your account identifier and include basic device and app information (such as device type, operating system version, app version, and approximate region derived from your IP address). They deliberately contain no names, email addresses, dog names, or search terms.
We also collect crash and error reports when something goes wrong, which include diagnostic information such as the error, the device model and OS version, and your account identifier, so we can tell how many people are affected and fix the problem.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Provide and operate the App's features
- Display your profile, dogs, and shared content to other users as part of the social experience
- Show nearby places and enable playdate planning and live location sharing
- Send push notifications you have opted into
- Verify purchases and maintain your Super PawFive balance
- Understand how the App is used so we can improve it, and diagnose crashes and errors
- Review reports, moderate the community, and keep the App safe
- Respond to your support requests
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for third-party advertising.
4. How Your Information Is Shared
4.1 With Other Users
Your profile, dog profiles, and content you post are visible to other users. Your live location is shared only with participants of a playdate while you have live sharing turned on.
4.2 Service Providers
We rely on the following providers to operate the App:
- Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage for your account and content
- Google — Google Sign-In, and Google Maps / Places for maps and place search
- Apple — Sign in with Apple
- Firebase Cloud Messaging — delivering push notifications
- Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting
- PostHog — product analytics
- RevenueCat — purchase verification
These providers process data only as needed to provide their services to us.
4.3 Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users — including reporting to authorities as described in our Child Safety Standards.
5. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete account in the App. Deletion runs immediately — there is no waiting period and you do not need to contact us first. See Delete Account for the full details, or email support@honeymilkstudio.ca if you would rather we do it for you.
Deleting your account removes your profile, your dogs and their photos, your profile photo, your friend connections, your notification tokens and preferences, and your Super PawFive balance, which is forfeited and cannot be refunded or restored.
Some of what you contributed to shared spaces stays in the App, because other people are part of it — activity in playdates you took part in, and contributions to places on the map. Your name and profile are detached from it. We may also keep limited records where retention is required by law or needed for safety.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your data appropriately. If a data breach occurs that creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
7. International Data Transfers
Honeymilk Studio is based in Canada, but our service providers (such as Supabase, Google, PostHog, and RevenueCat) may store and process your information on servers located outside Canada, including in the United States. While your information is in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction. We choose providers that apply appropriate safeguards to personal information.
8. Children's Privacy
PawFive is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it. See also our Child Safety Standards.
9. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information. We honour these requests for all users — email support@honeymilkstudio.ca and we will respond within a reasonable timeframe. Honeymilk Studio is based in Canada and handles personal information in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and revise the "Last Updated" date above. Significant changes may also be communicated in the App.
11. Contact Us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at support@honeymilkstudio.ca.
