The couple to-do app is on Google Play, and iPhone and Android partners can play together. Plus a fresh look on both phones: crops that grow, a cosy cream card, and pastel confetti.

DailyQuest Is Now on Android, With a Brand New Look

Two pieces of news today. DailyQuest is now on Google Play, so Android phones can join in. And the app has a whole new look, on iPhone and Android alike.

DailyQuest is on Google Play

The most common question we've had since launch is "Is there an Android version?" Now there is.

The Android app is the same DailyQuest, not a cut-down version:

  • Single player and co-op mode. Use it on your own, or link up with your partner.
  • Quests and the Reward Store. Write quests, earn XP, and spend it on rewards you actually want.
  • Reward requests. Ask your partner for a reward, and they set what it costs.
  • Nudges and reminders. Give your partner a gentle push, and get reminded about your own quests.
  • DQ Premium. Unlimited quests and rewards, available on Android too.

On Android you sign in with your Google account.

iPhone and Android couples can play together

This was the whole point. Most couples don't get to pick each other's phones, and a couple to-do app is no use if only one of you can install it.

An iPhone and an Android phone link up with the same invite code, and from then on you share one quest list and one Reward Store, whichever phone you each have. We tested nudges going both ways between an iPhone and a real Android phone before release.

A new look on both phones

DailyQuest has always been built from pixel art. The new look keeps that, and iPhone and Android now look the same.

We redesigned it because the old screens got harder to read as your lists grew. Quests and rewards sat right on top of the busy tiled background, so a list of ten or twenty quests turned into a wall of text. Now your lists sit on a calm, plain card. Each quest and reward gets its own tidy row, and a long list stays easy to scan. A short list gets a short card, so a quiet day looks quiet.

Quests live on a cosy cream card. Your quest list sits on a soft cream card over the tiled world. In co-op, Mine and Partner's are folder tabs along the top. The "New quest" row stays pinned at the bottom, so you never have to scroll to add one.

Checking off a quest grows a crop. Every quest starts as a little sprout. Finish it and it's pulled up as a carrot, a pumpkin, a tomato, or one of six other crops. Each quest always grows the same crop, on both of your phones. A small toast tells you who earned the XP.

Redeeming feels like a moment. The Reward Store shows how close you are to each reward. When you cash one in, a chest opens over the store with a burst of pastel confetti. You can then share the reward card with your partner.

And the rest:

  • A slide-out menu
  • Redrawn sign-in screens
  • New partner invite screens, starring two cows and a heart
  • A new app icon: our sloth on a warm beige background

Two fixes landed in DailyQuest 2.10 on iPhone, and they're in the Android app too:

  • Co-op check marks no longer land on the wrong day when you and your partner are in different time zones.
  • Partner nudges and quest reminders are more reliable.

Everything above is live now. If your partner has been waiting for an Android version, send them the link below and link up.
